Studio Design App For Fun Photo Effects

(Cloud shapes & text in Lobster font)
Studio Design is my favorite photo app right now for Instagram! I love all the creative possibilities that are available with this app. You can add text, borders, shapes, frames, sayings, and design icons. You'll find a nice variety and styles of fonts included. Other features include photo filters and easy export to social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. There are lots of free design packs to choose from (like the ones I've used below). Plus, there are a bunch of fantastic design packs to purchase for a small fee. It does take some getting used to, but you'll be designing great images in no time.

The Studio Design app is also great for making quotes with your photos or a colored background. My favorite features include: the layers, which you can rearrange for different effects, and the transparency feature for making watermark effects. You can also take a design shortcut (cheat!) by remixing other user's designs by browsing and then tapping the "remix" button. You can also browse and get more Studio ideas by searching #madewithstudio on Instagram or on their social media pages (links below). Give it a try, it's addicting!

Download the Studio App on their website:

Mixed Media "Live Laugh Love" Flower Block

Today I have a such a cute project to share! It's a mixed media "Live Laugh Love" flower block. And it's actually made from a 2x4 board! They are inexpensive and rustic boards, perfect for distressed sitter blocks. The leopard print flower is from Michaels in the floral/vase section. I used green ric rac ribbon for the stem and the leaves were hand drawn and cut from paper. I hand wrote the words onto the leaves.
Tips for this project:
*cut the board to 8" in length, sand edges if needed
*paint the block with slightly watered down acrylic paint, using a
paper towel to wipe away some of the paint to create a stain finish
*cut the wires off the back of the flower
*add color to the flower petals (came B&W) with watered down
acrylic paint dots using a paintbrush
*Use tacky glue to glue on the flower and ribbon stem
*distress the edges of the block with black archival ink (I like Brilliance)
*doodle on some of the leaves with a black permanent
marker (I used a Slick Writer)
*add some yellow paint dots to the ribbon stem
*distress the leaves and stem with some ink too
*use Yes brand paste to glue the leaves down

I love how this turned out, so I decided to keep it for now, instead of listing it. It lives in my craft studio :-)
