Ribbons and Bows and Camo Clothes...

Today I'd like to share with you a picture frame I made for a gift. My sister-in-law asked me if I could make a frame for her with this cute saying "Ribbons and Bows and Camo Clothes, that's what little girls are made of." I had never heard of the saying before, but it totally fits my niece Kayla! She is 9 years old and likes the typical girly things, but she also wears camo clothes and is interested in hunting.

I ended up making the frame and giving it to her as a Christmas gift. I painted the frame in a sage green. I used a scallop circle punch and camouflage paper to make camo flowers with button centers. The saying was designed and cut from black vinyl using my Cricut machine. I made it with a ribbon hanger so she could hang it on the wall if she wanted to. Otherwise they could cut the ribbon off and use it as a traditional picture frame.

Kayla and her mom both really liked her gift! And everyone really liked the saying and thought it fit Kayla well. You can find some cute t-shirts online with that saying. Have a great day!

P.S. I can also make this frame to order or make it into a wall sign if interested. Just contact me through my blog profile or Etsy shop.

Live Laugh Love Mixed Media Canvas

This Live Laugh Love canvas wall art was a lot of fun to make! I started with a blank 8x10 inch canvas from Michaels. I call it mixed media art, because I added some assorted craft materials to the canvas. The canvas background was painted in pinks and purple. I just took a foam brush and went back and forth horizontal brush strokes until I liked the results. The vinyl saying was designed in Adobe Illustrator, then die cut with my Cricut, then applied to the canvas. I glued on pink and purple fabric flowers, a gem brad center, and embroidery floss ribbon. I applied glitter glue to the ribbon to make it a little sparkly.

This is a great project to customize your own home decor or for gifts! Starting with a blank canvas can be intimidating, but just have fun with it. You can always paint over it :-). Use stencils, paper letters, chipboard letters, or alphabet stickers to make your saying. Decorate it with scrapbooking supplies, ribbon, beads or photos. There are so many possibilities!

Have a great day!

Inspired To Blog Again

After quite a long hiatus, I am feeling inspired to blog again! I had to take a break once the busy craft show season started in the Fall. I was so busy doing craft shows almost every weekend, plus selling online. Then after Christmas, I kinda lost my creative mojo. But now, after starting to use Pinterest, I think I'm getting it back! Pinterest has so many creative ideas and great photos, it is total eye candy for me. I love seeing what other people are pinning and finding amazing creative sites and blogs. I also found these great quotes that are very inspiring:

I also revamped my blog design for a fresh new start!
Thanks for stopping by!
