Flower Picture Frames

I have two new handmade flower picture frames to share with you today! The first one is a Sweet picture frame perfect for a girl's room. I painted the frame bright pink and then varnished it. Then I added a photo mat which was decorated with punched and spritzed flowers, buttons, a scallop border, alphabet stickers, and flower brads.

The spritzing on the flowers were done with markers and a Spritzer Airbrush Tool (click on photo to see close-up). It is available right now on HSN and Stampin' Up. You can also find it on Ebay sometimes. The spritzer tool is great for adding "spritzes" or small dots of color to paper, die cuts, and cards. You can also use it with stencils for a fun look.

My second project is a Daddy's Little Girl picture frame. This dimensional frame is decorated with ribbon, flower chipboard embellishments, die cut paper, flower brads, and cute sticker images. I used foam adhesive to give the flowers more dimension.

My Memories Suite Review and GIVEAWAY!

Today I'm going to review My Memories Suite 2 Software. If you haven't heard about the #1 scrapbooking software, then you're in for a treat today! I'm also giving away a copy of their software, a $39.97 value! This software can do so many things. Besides scrapbooking, you can also make cards, calendars, photo books, DVD slideshows, and more! It is so easy to use too, you'll be creating projects in no time at all.

I've tried other scrapbooking programs before, but was not very happy with them. They were so limiting in the things you can do. You basically only were able to use what came on the software and and it was hard to come up with ideas, because they only gave a few examples. What's so great about this software is not only do you have a bunch of designer templates, papers, shapes, and embellishments that come included, you also have access to a lot more free elements on their website. Plus, they have tons of affordable kits and elements, many of which are $1 or less. You can also use other digital papers and elements you already have. The My Memories Suite online gallery is also full of fantastic ideas for all sorts of projects.

If you're new to digital scrapbooking, let me tell why it's such a great thing. Digital scrapbooking is an affordable way to archive your memories, because you don't have to invest in a lot of tools and supplies. Plus, you can print them over and over or share them with you're friends and family easily. That way you can easily make multiple albums without having to recreate the pages each time compared to paper scrapbooking. Another plus is that you never run out of things you need for a page, like alphabet stickers or ribbon, because they are digital. My favorite part of digital scrapbooking is you can match the colors in your photos exactly. In My Memories Suite software there is a color picker tool, which you place over your photo and you move it around until you find the color you want. This works great for coloring the background, the photo mat, and the title of your page.

When you want to print out your page, there are a lot of options too. In My Memories Suite you can print them at home in the standard scrapbooking sizes of 6 x 6, 8 x 8, and 8.5 x 11. If you have a large format printer, you can print it out in 12 x 12 inches. You can also make and print other sizes too, which is great for making mini scrapbooks. If you don't want to print at home, there are a lot of online photo sites which will print scrapbooking sizes. If you really like paper scrapbooking, you can use still use this software to help make your pages. Using both digital elements and paper elements is sometimes referred to as hybrid scrapbooking. You can create your photos, photo mats, borders, titles, background paper, or journaling spots digitally; then print them out and add them to your page along with your traditional paper and scrapbooking embellishments. It's the best of both worlds! You can also do this with cards, calendars, and other paper crafts if you're not into scrapbooking.

Check out my very first project (above) created with the My Memories Suite software. This is a quick Fall scrapbooking page that I created from scratch. This page shows some of my favorite things about this software. I started with burlap paper background, added a scallop paper frame with one of my Fall photos. Then I added some leaf, button, and ribbon embellishments. I gave them a shadow to make them look more dimensional. I added a title and put a stroke (line) around the Fall letters. And my favorite part: stitching! I am not a sewer, so it is so fun to be able to use it over and over in no time at all!

My second project (above) was made using a predesigned template. This is a yearly calendar project. It is one of their free kits available on their website. I wanted to try one of them out right away, because it says it only takes one click to install into the software. And it's true, that is a great feature! You do have the option to change or adjust the elements, but I kept them the same. All I added was the blue and purple stitched flowers and a photo of my kitty Cosmo. I think it turned out great and was so easy to make!

This is my third and favorite project I made (above). I made a scrapbook page using one of their photo collage templates. I absolutely love this feature! This would be time consuming to try to do on your own in photo software. Plus with My Memories Suite, it is easy to add and crop your photos into place. I used some of my favorite scenic photos from the North Shore, which is along Lake Superior in Minnesota. I added textured green paper for the background and I put a square scallop shape in the center and added my title. I also added ribbon and stitching. I used dotted circle and flourish embellishments on two of the photos for some nice touches!

My final thoughts on My Memories Suite 2

* It's so easy to use! I didn't read any instructions, I just started creating on my own. Those new to photo and scrapbooking software will benefit from watching or reading tutorials first.
* I love these digital embellishments and the color choices that are included: ribbon and rick rack, layered flower shapes, stitching, dotted circles, and flourishes.
* The color picker tool to match your photos in a page is fantastic!
* I love how you can go back and adjust your photo cropping easily and multiple times.
* The word art tool is awesome! You can make your words have a gradient, fill it with a photo, or shape them into a wavy line or shape (arch, circle, etc.)
* I absolutely love the photo collage templates! I think I will use those the most.
* Scallop shapes and frames! You can have a scallop shaped photo, mat, frame or background paper.
* Being able to download lots of free and affordable kits on their website, then adding them into the software in just one click!

* The papers, predesigned pages, and embellishments are more basic. For more themed choices, you will need to get them from their website.
* Some of the processes can be slow moving. For example,  the time it takes to save your page into a JPEG file is rather slow. It may be because you are working with high quality images, it could also just be my computer.
* There is no kerning or tracking feature to adjust spacing between the letters (that I could find). This may not be a big deal to most people, however I use it a lot when making my titles and journaling in other software. You can adjust the spacing between the lines of letters though.
