Decorative Quote Sitter Blocks

These are handmade wooden quote sitter blocks that I make, which you can find in my shop. I love putting quotes around my house. And these are some of my favorites! I first design and print them. Then they get decoupaged onto wooden blocks. I either paint the sides to match or I stain them, then apply a sealer. They would look great sitting on a table top, dresser, or on a shelf.

I also take custom orders for different colors, sayings, or names. Right now I'm working on a Dare to Dream block like above, except in robin's egg blue. I also can create longer ones such as these:

This one is 16.5 inches long. I'm also working on some custom orders for longer ones that say: "What happens at the lake, stays at the lake" for someone's cabin, "Every home need a Princess" for a girls room, and "Every home needs a Queen. "

These are some I made for a teacher's classroom, with the school motto. I distressed these a lot with sandpaper and some brown chalk. I was excited when another teacher from that school requested some too!

These make really great gifts! You can contact me for a custom order in my Etsy Shop.

St. Armands Circle in Sarasota

One of the places I visited in Florida was a shopping area on Lido Key in Sarasota called St. Armands Circle. It has a circle in the center with four quadrants of shops/restaurants and there are a lot of statues. There were so many great shops and restaurants; we didn't even get through the whole thing! We ate outside at a fantastic Spanish restaurant called Columbia. I had a world-famous 1905 salad (so good!), soup, homemade bread, and a really good sangria.

There were a lot of great shops there including some very artsy shops. My favorite was Garden Argosy, which is a gift shop with creative indoor/outdoor items, some of which are handmade. Here are some of the artists/companies I discovered in this shop: A.I. Paper Design, Wild Rooster Artworks, Cindy Wunsch, and Compendium Inc. I would love to go on a shopping spree there someday!

This art shop called The Artful Giraffe featured fabulous art on the wall, plus it had a fantasic mosaic floor. The shop owner let me take a picture of it.

Other fun shops at St. Armands Circle:

Lilly Pulitzer Colorful beachy clothes and accessories
Exit Art: Clothing, home decor, and gift shop
Decor De France: home decor, jewelry, and handbags

My Florida Vacation

I had such a great time in Florida! I was there for about nine days. I went there with my mom and aunts. We stayed in a beautiful vacation rental home in Bradenton for most of the time. It had a great pool and patio and it was on a small lake. My mom and I also stayed in Tampa for two days. Some of the other places we went to were: Anna Maria Island, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Hard Rock Casino in Tampa, and Honeymoon Island State Park. My favorite place we went to was John's Pass by Madeira Beach. It's a converted old fishing village with a boardwalk. It has sightseeing and rental boats, new shops, restaurants, dolphins, and it's right across from a beautiful beach. I spent so much time watching the dolphins....I could have just watched them all day!

This is John's Pass above, and Madeira Beach below. I love the ocean so much, listening to the waves, and finding sea shells. I would just love to live there someday, except I don't like the critters. We saw a Black Indigo snake and quite a few lizards, even a couple in the pool area. I'm just so not used to that! I didn't get to see any alligators. Maybe next time! I took so many photos, I can't wait to start scrapbooking them!

Sandy Beaches Here I Come!

I am taking a much needed vacation! I'm leaving the frigid winter weather in Minnesota to go to the warm sandy beaches of Florida! It's my first trip to Florida and only my second trip to the ocean. I'm going there with my mom and my aunts for some fun and relaxation! We will be in the Sarasota and Tampa area if anyone has suggestions on sites to see or places to eat. Me and my Etsy shop will return on March 14th. Have a great weekend and upcoming week!
